NSW: Death of elderly pedestrian brings holiday road toll to six

SYDNEY, Dec 23 AAP - An elderly pedestrian has died after he was run over in Sydney, bringing the holiday road toll in NSW to six.
Police say an 82-year-old man was walking along Homer Street at Earlwood, in Sydney's west, about 11.30am (AEST) on Monday when he was struck by a Toyota Camry sedan.
He was knocked to the ground and pinned under the vehicle until freed by police and ambulance personnel at the scene.
He was rushed to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, but died about three hours later.
The 48-year-old female driver was also admitted to hospital and treated for shock.
Five others have died in separate incidents on Saturday and Sunday.
A 34-year-old male truck driver died at the scene when his semi-trailer rolled on the Pacific Highway near Coffs Harbour on Sunday evening.
A 38-year-old man also died on Sunday when his motorcycle collided with a bus on the NSW mid-north coast, south of Forster.
Police say the motorcyclist was trying to overtake the bus when it made a right-hand turn.
The man died at the scene but no one on the bus was injured.
Three other people were killed in separate accidents on Saturday.
